Based on updates from Gov. Cooper, health officials and other state organizations, including the North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s decision to suspend interscholastic athletics, Cumberland County Schools will adhere to the following guidelines, beginning at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2020:

  • All middle and high school athletic competitions are suspended until at least Monday, April 6, 2020. This includes all workouts, skill development, practices and contests (on or off campus).
  • In light of multiple co-curricular organizations canceling scheduled activities, all co-curricular competitions are suspended until at least Monday, April 6, 2020.

This decision comes after the World Health Organization (WHO) officially declared the coronavirus (COVID-19) a pandemic.

This guidance is subject to change based on updates from local and state health officials.
